In loving memory of Carl Wilson

Carl was always willing to help, share his knowledge (and wit) and think through problems with you. He will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to Becky and his family.

I'm sorry we didn't get to know Carl very well, but the times we did meet it was very obvious to us how much in love he and Becky were. Reading through other messages here, I can see how much loved he was by a lot of people. Rest in peace Carl, gone far too soon. Condolences to Becky and all of Carl's family and friends x

RIP Carl. To me, you were a gentle giant with a very kind and thoughtful heart. You will be missed by many.

My first memory of Carl was him striding through Tadcaster with a mohican and thinking " who is that beautiful man..." Later I found out when I became best friends with his sister Em... Carl you were a beautiful soul and you will be missed greatly and never forgotten xxx

Carl was a lovely, quick witted and intelligent man, and I always enjoyed meeting up and chatting with him. He was a wonderful uncle to Harry and Erin, and they loved him dearly. We all miss him immeasurably.

So many memories of working with Carl and exchanging with him. He was always willing to talk and share his in-depth knowledge. I will miss his touch of humor. Farewell, dear friend, and my deepest condolences to Becky and the family.

RIP Carl

Carl was a much loved collaborator and champion and will be very sorely missed. We would mostly meet at conferences or work events. You always knew that if he caught your eye at just the right moment he would light up the room: a twinkle in his eye that belied the depth of knowledge and experience which he carried lightly, communicated joyfully and shared generously. He was an outstanding colleague in a global community which has benefited hugely from his work. A compass pointing the way for so much of our shared digital preservation journey. With much love also to family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Thank you Carl. Rest in peace.

RIP Carl. Thank you for the memories, friendship and support over the years. You can’t choose your family but I’m really glad I had the opportunity to have you in my life.

Carl will be sadly missed by so many friends and colleagues. There was a period (pre-Covid) when he was a reliable presence at every digital preservation event/workshop/hackathon and was always so generous and supportive. He was happy to share his (vast) knowledge with anyone who needed help and that huge input into the community will be very much missed. Thoughts are with all his family, friends and colleagues xxx
